according to President/Party Leader
of the Égalité Party of Canada
The Gov't of Canada seems to encourage the band chiefs +
council members to look after themselves just like Canadian
gov't officials look after themselves.
[The situation in Kahnawake (Mohawk reserve straddling New
York State + Quebec) was a little bit more involved, but pretty
much the same thing.]
The Égalité Party of Canada, the ÉPC, is proposing a 3-part
SOLUTION to 1st Nation communities.
Part A: General Response
====================
THE SOLUTION *EVERYWHERE* IS THE SAME: "everyone"
needs to know *WHO* are the persons making the financial de-
cisions; *WHO* are the persons (or organizations) benefiting
from them. (It is important to look into the possibility of bribes
+ kickbacks from those receiving contracts from the Bands.)
The community needs to first look at exactly HOW MUCH $$$
the Band Council starts with.
Then, it needs to look at HOW, WHERE, WHY it is being spent.
EVERYBODY! in the community should be aware of this.
THE KEY is have outside ACCOUNTANTS - 3rd party "at arms
length" accountants - who are "100% independent" and NOT
beholden to and Band Council member to ASSESS THE STATE
OF THE BOOKS, COMMENT on the recording keeping that has
been done to date + MAKE RECOMMENDATIONS.
Ironically, THIS SITUATION seems to have been "INTENTION-
ALLY" CREATED BY OTTAWA in order to *DISCREDIT* the
1st Nations demand for SELF-GOVERNMENT (autonomy in
their own affairs)so that Ottawa can make the claim that Band
Councils are so "inept" + "financially incompetent" that the
notion of self-government "in reality" is completely ludicrous.
What the Gov't has done is put in place a VERY SMART, so-
phisticated passive GENOCIDE POLICY that ensures 10%
of 1st Nation Peoples (especially the educated professionals)
get decent paying jobs so that *THE SYSTEM* WORKS FOR
THEM while humiliating the remaining 90%, most of whom live
on *RESERVES* or in institutions like JAILS + SHELTERS.
Those on the reserves live in degrading conditions like caged
animals in a zoo in VERY SMALL HOUSES. Historically, the
Department of Indian and Northern Affairs who keeps them on
a *VERY SHORT* LEASH: they could NOT change a window
of their home without the approval first of the Department of
Indian and Northern Affairs.
NOT only is the Department of Indian and Northern Affairs 100%
responsible for their living conditions, its AUTORIZATION is RE-
QUIRED FOR EVERYTHING (even when it comes to changing
something like a window on a house) although lately it has be-
come somewhat more reasonable.
The Department of Indian and Northern Affairs - often oblige A
WHOLE COMMUNITY to use ONLY ONE! COMMUNAL TAP
and will place the OUT-TAKE (sewage) PIPE not that far from
the IN-TAKE PIPE from which the community gets its water so
they have to boil it first before they can use it.
THE SITUATION *STINKS*!!!
And WHO's to blame?
THE GOVERNMENT OF CANADA.
Canadians should be ASHAMED!
At Nassau Lake (30 miles west of Hearst, Northern Ontario
- smack in the middle of the Trans-Canada Highway), in a
lumber camp, where President/Party Leader of the É(eh)PC
spent his first 14 years starting in 1953, each of the 66 families
had their own hot/cold water taps and indoor plumbing (no
outhouses there).
So why does the native population on so-called "reserves"
NOT have there own indoor plumbing and own their own
hot/cold water taps?
Such fascist Police State humiliation of natives is degradingly
INHUMAN!
The Government of Canada CAN! DO BETTER.
SHAME!!!

The threat of having "fraud charges" laid against band coun-
cil members should make them realize that they are ACTING
NOT only ILLEGALLY, but are INSTRUMENTS OF THEIR
OWN GENOCIDE by acting "behind everyone's back" (be-
hind close doors - in secret - like the Government of Canada)
and EFFECTIVELY KILLING THE COMMUNITY'S CHANCES
OF LONG-TERM survival.
Technically, THE WHOLE COMMUNITY should have THE
FINAL SAY in ALL Band Council DECISIONS for two basic
reasons:
1. in order to ensure GOOD DECISIONS are made;
2.in order to ensure that THE FUTURE OF THEIR COMMU-
NITY IS *NOT* JEOPARDIZED.
Within one (1) generation, perhaps two (2), this *well-thought-
out* NASTY Government POLICY OF *PASSIVE* GENOCIDE
will probably be a RESOUNDING SUCCESS.
Unfortunately, band council members are NOT educated NOR
smart enough to understand HOW THEIR ILLEGAL ACTIOINS
are NEGATIVELY IMPACTING the future viability of their com-
munity.
Each band member needs to be taken aside by the community
and have this pointed out to him, her, in order to turn things a-
round.
Part 3: Get the BIG GUNS
====================
Get the religious authorities INVOLED + have them use their
moral authority to denounce the systemic abuse suffered by
1st Peoples at the hands of the Government of Canada: lost
of their children to Government residential schools, houses
that are TOO SMALL without indoor plumging, inadeqate
eduation facilities, poor diets heavily loaded on pop and chips,
depression and diabetes resulting from the poor diets because
of the exorbitant cost of good food, etc.
The religious authorities can STOP! the Government from
systematically KILLLING! OFF our 1st Peoples.
THEY SHOULD, but haveN'T yet.
First Nation Culture: only in the Museum
==============================
When seeing little to no Haida (1st Nation taht specializes in
totem poles) art in Vancouver after having been there in 1971
the President/Party Leader of the É(eh)PC was DEEPLY SAD-
DENED to be told that he'd have to go to the Antropological
Museum of the University of British Columbia.
Luckily, a few doors down from the Granville Street Vogue
hotel where he was staying there was a 1st Nation art store
that he immensely enjoyed visiting.
He further saddened to learn while in Vancouver that 1st Nation
languages are on the verge of extinction as a person who studies
11 languages in University, linguistics, and a degree in Italian
and another degree in Spanish.
THE BLAME for this *STINKING* MESS goes to the Crown
that *repeatedly* promise in treaty after treaty that it would
treat the 1st Peoples of Canada WELL!.
The Crown has LIED! to them.
The Crown has promised Canadians GOOD! government.
Again, by providing "behind closed doors" government , the
Crown has given self-serving BAD! government.
The Crown has LIED! to all Canadians.
THE SOLUTION according to the É(eh)PC is to NOT! vote.
And JOIN and/or SPPORT the É(eh)PC for CLEAN! OPEN
government that Canadians can trust because they'll be able
to verify Government spending online and see for themselves
what is happening to their hard earned tax dollars.
Incidentally, with the É(eh)PC in power THE PROVINCIAL CAPI-
TALS will SHOWCASE showcase 1st Peoples arts and
crafts for the whole world to see.
The É(eh)PC is committed to putting 1st Nation culture FRONT
AND CENTRE on the Canadian scene followed by that of the
Métis: no one will be able to become a Canadian without know-
ing 1st Nation culture and the FIRST WORDS uttered in the
opening of Parliament will be in a 1st Nation language and in-
clude 1st Peoples participation.
Consequently, it's clear that the É(eh)PC is the ONLY! political
party in Canada that *really* CARES! about 1st Peoples.
