Subject: "$15 MINIMUM wage, FREE! college+university -

               NEEDED N-O-W!" (President/Party Leader of
               the Égalité Party of Canada)

Hi,

Regarding your "Georgia Straight" (http://www.straight.com) article
entitled "Dragged down by debt" in your April 26th - May 3rd issue
on page 47, I'd just like to point out that with the Égalité Party of
Canada in power post-secondary education would be FREE!

Regarding your article entitled "Campus 2020 maps out road to
excellence" on page 60, I am NOT surprised that this former top
bureaucrat, Geoff Plant, is advocating "MORE! BUREAUCRACY"
by recommending that there be "a higher education board" filled
by MORE! CRONIES to be sure :o) (perhaps, dare I say, friends
of his.) I strong feel it's this kind of brazen, thoughtless, insensitive
thinking that results in unending tax increases and he is a cham-
pion of this - perenial tax increases?

To add to the hilarity of this, is the demand of povincial parlaimen-
tarians to a hefty salary increase.

And who is expected to pay for all this?

Post-secondary students?

You state in your article that their debt went up $10,000 under the
Liberals AND they now carry an average debt of $27,000
upon completion of their studies.

What kind of jobs are they likely to get?

High paying or low paying?

The Government is crippling OUR BRIGHTEST YOUNG PEOPLE
with debt turning them into INDENTURED SERVANTS OF THE
STATE.

Does this mean they canNOT have families like everybody else?

How long does the Government of Canada expect post-secondary
graduates to postpone getting married and then, postpone having
a family?

And this is good, responsible Government?

The Égalité Party of Canada does NOT think so.

Clearly, high post-secondary tuition fees and a low minimum wage
are no longer tenable.  The Égalité Party of Canada therefore pro-
poses
FREE! college+university education and a $15 minimum
wages like that in
Australia (subsidized by the Government if neces-
sary).

Cheers!
