Resource Extraction: NO! =========================== Consequently, the Alberta Oil Sands is a NO-GO! It's DANGEROUS! It's UNTHINKABLE! It's *massive* scale pollution that is TOTALLY! UNNECESSARY. The benefits just do NOT! justify the cost. 3,400 square kilometres of pristine Canadian boreal forest will be STRIP! MINED ruining it for future generations. The Costs Outweigh the Benefits ========================= The extraction of ONE barrel of oil requires - the processing of TWO TONS of sand - 1000 cubic feet of natural gas - FOUR BARRELS of water In addition, the processing of the tar sands produces a HUGE! environmental hazard: HUGH! TOXIC, POISONOUS tailings ponds. The Alberta Oil Sands will *also* KILL! the Athabasca River ecosystem making unfit for animals and humans. The Alberta Oil Sands produce ALREADY! 36 MEGATONS of atmospheric pollutants and that amount is projected to rise to 120 MEGATONS. The DESTRUCTION OF THE ENVIRONMENT by the Alberta Oil Sands makes it a NO-GO. We canNOT in good conscience go ahead with it. Irresponsible Political Party ===================== It's therefore INCREDIBLY STUPID and IRRESPONSIBLE that the Liberal Party of Canada FULLY ENDORSES the Alberta Oil Sands? What its leader, popularly known as "Iggy", doesN'T have and the President/Party does have is an Honours B.Comm. business degree and a B.Adm. business administration degree. Iggy does NOT understand the SOCIAL COSTS related to ENVIRONMENTAL COSTS that is being passed onto all Canadians by the Alberta Oil Sands. Surprisingly, the Liberal Party of Canada does NOT GET IT. Basically, the Liberal Party of Canada is DEAD MEAT. STOP! THIS INSANITY by supporting, joining the É(eh)PC. GOOD! Payback ============= When it comes to the extraction of Canadian natural resources, it should be done with care and with respect to the environment and there has to be a GOOD! payback to Canadians as provided for by the É(eh)PC GREEN Plan. The É(eh)PC GREEN Plan will set royalties associated with the extraction of Canada's natural resources at 20% to make Canadians prosperous and secure. In fact, to that end - also as part of the É(eh)PC GREEN Plan -, the É(eh)PC will consider nationalizing the oil and gas sectors. And any company committing environmental infractions will be nationalized under the É(eh)PC GREEN Plan.
